A quick note after a long pause
Your "That Other Flock" update and what is coming next
Before anything else, thank you for being here. You signed up for “That Other Flock,” and I am grateful you stayed. If you feel like it, hit reply and tell me how you have been. I’d love to hear what is going on in your world.
“That Other Flock”
Season One is complete. I hope you enjoyed reading it half as much as I enjoyed writing it. The archive is still here if you want to revisit it. If you didn’t read all the episodes, scan through the archive and at least read the final episode, you deserve to know what was going on in that church kitchen.
I began Season Two and stopped. Another project pulled me in, and I lost momentum. Then I hit a rough patch personally which further stalled this work. I am mostly on the other side of that now, so here we go!
The Flock stories will stay here on Substack. I plan to edit Season One, publish it on Medium, and eventually gather the stories into a collection.
The Novel
After about two years of work, I finished my novel. I completed the final revision and handed it off for proofing last week. I am proud of it. The working title is “Welcome to Pearl’s.” You’ll hear more about it in these emails, including excerpts, publication updates, and stuff like that.
What’s next
I am reshaping what I send through Substack.
You can expect short, gritty fiction, margin notes from the work of writing, updates on the novel, and essays shaped by faith and honest questions.
These posts will live under a new heading called “Working in the Margin.” I’m building a space to create art that challenges and inspires. I believe we need all the words of hope we can get right now. You’ve earned a seat at this table, please join in.
I hope you will give the first few posts a try, but if not, I am grateful you spent some time with me and the characters in my head.
With gratitude,
st

Always rooting for you, always enjoy reading your words.
