Boy, does this resonate with me. I would raise these sorts of questions with pastors and teachers at my Seventh-Day Adventist boarding school, only to be told: “The evidence of God’s existence is all around you, in everything you see” and “You have to have faith in order to believe.” For somebody wired to assess things more empirically, such answers were frustrating and unsatisfying.
Yea, funny how church people are often not equipped to deal with questions or doubts...and so they just roll past them. Thankfully, not everyone is that way.
What a kind, thoughtful comment...no, I haven't thought of stage play. I'm just playing with these characters and themes...but I'd love to know what you think. And how that would work.

Enjoyed reading this, Steve! What a killer opening sentence!
I was thinking to myself after reading that this would work really well as a stage play. You tried adapting it?
Nice touch including the Captain! Bring it on.
Thanks...the "Captain" has so many attachments. Having fun with the big issues and little head nods. Appreciate the feedback and comment.
Already love the characters!
Oh thanks for that...they're real even if they only exist in my head.
Looking forward to future reads!
We'll all have to see where it goes...thanks so much for reading.
